Learning from outdoor is a valuable experience. We feel that the field trips and excursions are very important through the school years and based on this the school has designed a program for junior, middle and high school.

Co-curricular Activities

We wish to share the resources and skills that we have amongst us and at the same time learn from people who are placed in a different context. Over the last many years, the Valley has initiated and sustained a number of outreach activities that go beyond the regular activities of school. Some of them are as below The “Centre for Performing Arts “ conducts regular classes for anyone interested in learning different forms of Classical music, Dance, Visual art, pottery etc. A number of parents, friends and children are a a part of this programme and the classes are held in the ambient surroundings of the art village and amphitheatre beyond school hours. Regular workshops in the area of visual arts including painting, pottery, woodwork, folk craft etc are conducted. Artisans and craftspersons from different parts of the country are often invited. In addition to being a rich exposure for those in the Valley, such workshops are open to anyone interested to learn. Often students from other schools, children from neighbouring villages are a part of such events. A recent initiative by the Valley has been to organize Art and craft activities for children admitted at the St John's Hospital on a regular basis. Besides bringing in cheer and joy to these ailing children, engaging in colourful and interesting art activities has been a source of inspiration for the nurses and doctors in the hospital and a strong motivation for the mothers of the ailing children. About 15 parents of the Valley have come together to run this programme together with some of our teachers. What started with a weekly session at the paediatric nephrology ward last year has now grown in to twice a week programme and extended to the paediatric cancer ward too.

One of our challenges has been to develop a physical education programme that is meaningful, demanding without placing an emphasis on competition. We are making an attempt to inculcate an awareness of body and a sense of well-being through a sports program that also includes yoga. Sports and games facilities include A football field 3 basket ball courts A kho-kho field A volleyball court A table tennis room Indoor spaces for Yoga, Aerobics etc. Students enjoy playing major field games like basketball and football, as well as volleyball, kho-kho and table tennis. The games activities include regular physical fitness exercises as well as matches. The annual athletics meet provides a focus for the development of athletic prowess and talent. In addition to specialist teachers in Physical Education, we utilize the services of professional coaches for honing up the skills of children in specific games.

Outreach programs. Nature Conservation programs KEEP programs. Painting as participatory activity. Painting as subject for exams. Wood work. Sculptures – in stone, wood, ceramics, metal, paper etc. Thread work – big loom, small – loom, embroidery, macramé etc. Paper – craft, paper mache puppets etc. Dance – in various forms of classical, folk and contemporary. Theatre – as an art by itself and also as an integrating process of various art forms, languages, history, mythology, science and fiction. Vocal music – as participatory activity and also for examinations. Tabla - a north Indian drum for solo and as an accompanying musical instrument. Mridangam–a carnatic drum for solo and also as an accompanying musical instrument. Pottery-as a participatory art from clay play to organized pots, sculptures etc., Ceramics – for the few students serious in pottery and for the teachers and resident artists. A guest studio for the guest artists on campus.
